    Fishers runners wanted

I am newly back in geographically-challenged Fishers/Indy.  While personally not the best runner (1:45 half and waiting to finally run a marathon injury free), I would like to find a group to challenge me.

Does anyone know of a group of runners in Fishers? (i.e. relative consistent schedule including track, hill work-outs, etc)

Would anyone be interested in organizing Fisher runners?  Is there a way to do it under the auspices of Indy Runners?

I am not a member of the indy runners yet but plan on joining next year.  I live in fishers and run about 30 mile a week. Just ran my first marathon in 3:57 half has been 1:40. I would  be intrested in seeing if we could get a group going in the fishers area!  I did lots of 20 mile plus runs from my house at 106 and ditch this summer and fall.

    Hi Jeffrey,

I'm not sure about Fisher's but there's a group of us that meet on Saturday AM and Monday Evenings...at Northview Christian -- 131st and Hazel Dell.

I do know the people on the Saturday AM run at your pace -- some are faster.

They are avid 1/2 and marathoners in the group....One of them qualifies for Boston each time she runs a Marathon (ran a PR @ Chicago this year -- can you believe that!)

Send me an e-mail (m.anderson@smgonline.org) and I'll pass you onto the group...they'd love to have you join.

Last week -- they did the Knobstone trail Mini -- but we ususally start at the church and communicate via e-mail/phone calls.

You are welcome to join us!

There is a group forming at 116th and Olio in prep for the Geist Half/Indy Mini.  They meet at 6 PM at the Cardinal Fitness.  In Cardina's foyer, there is a notice about whom to contact.

    Jeffrey:

Would look forward to connecting for either early morning runs (if we live close by) or weekend runs -- and knowing about any groups in the area. I believe there is a Wednesday, 6 p.m., run from Bob Kennedy's running store at 116th and I-69, but maybe we could start our own.

My wife, girls and I moved back in July to 106th and Eller after 8 years in Bloomington. I was involved in Indy Runners from 1981 until we moved south in 1999,  but have been waiting to get family settled before connecting with anyone to run.

I can train at about any pace.

    My e-mail address is matt@midwestrunning.com.

    Re: Fishers runners wanted

My name is Brian Cake, and I am the point of contact for the Tuesday/Thursday Indy Runners (IR) club runs.  There are official IR runs on Saturday and Sunday mornings that aren't too far from Fishers.  The Saturday run meets in Broad Ripple, and the Sunday run meets in Lawrence.  Even though the weather's turning cold, you will find other runners at both locations throughout the winter.

IR is always willing to consider adding more official club runs, including in Fishers.  If added, it would appear on our website which gives it visibility.  (You're welcome to continue discussing non-club runs on this message board.)

The key is that there are certain expectations of any official club run.  This prevents things like runs being listed on our website which simply consist of a few friends who may or may not show up to run.  One of the expectations is that participants be members of IR (at least partially for insurance purposes).  Another expectation is that there will be people at the runs each week.

If you would like more information, feel free to contact me.  My contact information can be found at the HTML link I mentioned above.

    Brian
