    dependable light jogging partner needed

Having moved here recently, I'm looking for a dependable jogging partner.  I can jog a mile in about 11-12 minutes.  Of course, I'd like to improve my speed and endurance.  I also can do about 5 miles each session and can do 3-4x/week.  It'd be great to find someone who can go jog right after work a couple of times during the week and/or on the weekends.  I work in the downtown area by IU-PUI, so I could meet somewhere around that area or at a location between downtown and northeast part of Indy (en route home) between 4:45-5:15.  That'd be the ideal time frame to meet for me, but I'm open to figuring something else out.  Let me know if you'd be interested in jogging together.  With the winter weather coming, I sure could use someone to hold me accountable for showing up to jog.

I would be interested in running with you if you are interested.  I'm also new to the area, 25 years old, female.  I live in Carmel and work at IUPUI and am looking for a running partner to keep me motivated during the winter.  Right now I run about a 10:30-11:00 minute mile but looking to improve as well.  Let me know.  Thanks!

Did you two link up for downtown runs?  I ask because we have a small band o' runners that spend most of our time in Zionsville and EC.  Carmel's not too far from Z-ville and a little further to EC.  I moved back recently and we're looking for like-minded souls that aren't intimidated by 40-50* weather Smile [:)].

Just lmk via post or PM.

    Thx!

What time/days do you do the EC runs?  What pace group?  I am wanting to do a few more runs out at EC this season

Not too familiar w/this area yet.  What is EC?  I love jogging in cold weather (I was going when it was in the 30s)!  What time do you meet at?  How far would this place you all meet at be from the downtown area?  If you have a street address for it, please let me know.  That way I can map it.  Thanks.

EC is Eagle Creek park.   It is on the NW side of Indianapolis - there is an entrace right off of the 71st street exit of I-65 so from downtown its only about 15 min (assuming you are going against traffic).

What days and times do you all usually go/meet at?  And where at the park do you meet at?

Re: dependable light jogging partner needed

I have a friend who lives in the apartments on 56th street, so we go in that entrance.  If he's not running with us, we just park at the soccer park across the street.  The last few weeks we've been running in the dark (530 pm), so we swapped the EC for Z-ville's "rail trail" or whatever it's called.  I'm guessing that much of the evening traffic has slowed for EC, and most ppl only run there on the weekends or during the daytime.  just a guess tho......

Do you ever go on the weekends during the day?  If so, I'd like to try and join you all for a daytime jog on the weekend to start with and maybe join in on the runs in the dark later.  Please let me know when and location (like where to meet and how to recognize you all). Also, I'm pretty slow, like in the 10-12 minute miles range.  I don't mind just trailing behind you all if you don't.  It just really helps with being regular with jogging outdoors if I have to meet someone to do it (that and safety).

Re: dependable light jogging partner needed

Hey sorry for the delay - this forum is absolutely *hopping* with all the posts in this particular thread.  (It was so dead the first few weeks I checked, I stopped checking daily.)

If you want to meet up on a weekend and go to EC for a day run, I'm sure I could get my crew together.  They don't like the cold weather, and Thanksgiving & Christmas holidays are sure to compete for their time, but we could always give it a shot.  I know this weekend is out, but I'm all for getting a group of 5-10 together for another weekend.

We're flexible on the pace.  I just left the Army, where everyone has to meet the same standards on runs, despite wildly differing skill levels.  So there are lots of little things we can do in order to meet the pace of everyone in the run group.  Not that I'm a running pro - I'm not; I haven't broken 8:00 in a long time, nor will I be trying to anytime soon.

If I were closer to downtown, I'd be happy to meet you there - I love running in the city (so long as the traffic is low), but I don't make it down there much.  If you're on the NE side, you might consider Ft. Harrison park.  I haven't been there in 5 years, but I'm told it's still nice and has expanded it's routes since then.

Re: dependable light jogging partner needed

How about Dec. 8th or 9th?  Not sure what the weather would be like then, but it'd be great to do a daytime jog with you all unless there's heavy snow on the ground.  I went Sat. morning  around 7:30 when it was like 30 degrees.  Loved it!  Maybe e-mail would be easier to stay in contact for that.  Could you send me yours?  Thanks!
