    Disney Marathon

    Hi,
Anyone running the Disney Marathon on January 13? This will be my first try at a marathon. My 1st goal is 8:00 min miles (3:28:30). 2nd goal is 7:30 min miles (3:15:00), which would qualify me for Boston. I know that is overly optimistic, but I figure if I am going to try something this hard, I might as well go all out for it.
Most of my long runs have been in the 7:45 -8:00 min mile range. So I am somewhat optimistic about my Boston goal. But we will see. Much easier said then done.

    Hi Kevin,

I will also be running the Disney Marathon.  It will be my second marathon.  I ran Chicago last year in a disapointing 4hours and 40 minutes (the weather did not cooperate cold and 40mph wind gusts).

I am hoping to run Disney in more like 4:00 to 4:15.  I have trained a lot more this time, although I have had some trouble here lately getting my long runs in due to the crappy weather the last 3 weekends.  I did manage to run 20 yesterday despite the crazy wind.

    Good luck on the 13th.

    Ed.

    Re: Disney Marathon

I'm walking the 1/2 Marathon at Disney on the 12th.  I'm planning to do the full marathon next year, using this year as recon.  Do you guys have any sugestions/experience for working around the weather and holidays while in the midst of the peak training?

Good Luck!  Looks like the weather in Orlando breaks this coming week.  Should be good temps for the events.

    Re: Disney Marathon

I've never walked a 1/2 marathon Todd, but I would guess it's similar to running.  You should be tapering with just a week to go.  I am only running about half or less of my peak mileage this week and maybe a third next week.  Rest is most important right before the race.

As far as the holidays and weather, its tough.  I hate treadmills, so I try and run outside regardless.  Just wear more layers of clothing.

Good luck next weekend.  I am hoping for temps in the 50s and 60s.  It can warmup immediately after I finish running.
