2010 Indy Runners Fall Race Training Program

We’re back again! The Indy Runners 5th annual Fall Race Training Program for full and half marathons returns for 2010. The program begins on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 7:30am and continues each Saturday morning (see schedule exceptions below) on the wooden deck a t the corner of E. Westfield Blvd and Winthrop Ave. in Broad Ripple (next to the Brugge Brasserie). Look for the blue Indy Runners tent on the deck. The program will finish in November with suggested distances preparing participants for October/November races, in particular the Indianapolis Marathon on October 16, 2010 and the Monumental Marathon on November 6, 2010.
This training program is FREE to paid club members. Non-members who are interested are invited to join the club. Individual dues covering the 2010 calendar year are only $20! Check out our membership page for more details including the membership application form.
Over 100 people participated in these Saturday runs last year with an average of 50 runners each week. It was an awesome group that worked to motivate one another through those long miles.
This program is informal (no pace groups) allowing runners and walkers to meet others with the same goal and provide support through your longer mileage days. Water and often a sports drink will be stationed along the route for all but the shortest runs. In addition, we provide water, sports drinks and snacks at the end of each run.
These weekly Saturday runs will be mileage based. We have participants with a variety of paces and experience levels. Last year we attempted to connect people of similar paces by e-mail and will do so again this year by collecting pace and e-mail information from participants at the first run. We are also happy to provide advice to meet your goal! Forms containing suggested weekly training mileage (both beginner and intermediate levels) will be available at the runs. You are also invited to join in our other group runs (and walks) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
New For 2010
- We will be holding a "Run the Monon" event on September 25, 2010. It will be a 20 mile run on the Monon Trail with a social event to follow. Watch the website for more details.
- Paid up club members will be given a wristband to wear each week. This identifies you as a paid club member and helps identify you as a training program participant.

Tentative Saturday Morning Schedule
The tentative Saturday morning mileage schedule is listed below. There will be no training run on July 3, 2010, but you are still welcome to come out for a regular 7:30am club run that morning. There will also be no training run on Saturday, October 16, 2010 as the Indianapolis Marathon is that morning, and we provide volunteers for the finish line area. (Watch the website for upcoming volunteer information.) Instead, we encourage those of you doing a later race to come out on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at 7:30am to do your run. Finally, a couple weeks show mileage like this "12/14". The first number is suggested mileage for the Indianapolis Marathon. The second number is suggested mileage for the Monumental Marathon.
